I don't know that I have just one, but my two faves are "A Change of Seasons" and "Metropolis".

Re: Favorite Dream Theater disc?
Sun, June 19, 2005 - 8:02 PMAll they have produced are great, but how can anything they do be better that Images and Words? I love TOT, Awake, Six Degs., and everything else out, but Images is their greatest!!!! -

Re: Favorite Dream Theater disc?
Fri, January 13, 2006 - 12:32 AMMy two favorites are Awake and Train of Thought (the latter probably their heaviest album ever). I also like Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance and Images & Words. Change of Seasons was a good EP (great song). Metropolis was a good concept album.
If you had to pick a "worst" one, Falling into Infinity doesn't stand up among their stronger efforts, in my opinion. Octavarium was good, but, to me, a let-down from the heavyness of Train and Six Degrees. When Dream and Day Unite (their first one) would be a lot better had James sang on it instead of Charlie (YTSEJam makes the first one worth it).

Re: Favorite Dream Theater disc?
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 12:42 PMWith such consistent quality, it is truly difficult to pick, but as a slightly more prog than metal influenced fan, I'd have to go with SCENES FROM A MEMORY or OCTAVRIUM. Altough again, their worst is better than most band's best.
